This place isn't a preserve.
It's the edge of a playing field and fitness loop on a college campus.
It doesn't have much of a view.
But any place outdoors is beautiful if you know how to look.
Looking means taking the time to pay attention.
This gnarled old tree is vivid with life.
It knows that spring is coming.
Maybe it's already here.
Looking means noticing texture and reaching for what it might mean.
The breeze is playful today.
Raccoons like to walk here.
But sometimes they travel alone, or maybe in pairs.
Looking means noticing how nature loves pattern and contrast
and color
and line
and light and shadow
and using them all at once.
Looking means letting your eyes fill up your soul
until you not only see but feel the harmony of the whole.
After all, any place outdoors is beautiful if you know how to look.

Fabulous post and blog. I like that your "branching" out. I will be in Florida in April and hope to discover a bit of your hidden Florida.
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a great blog post! I love it immensely...I have almost certainly boated down that bit of water and past those docks and under that bridge.....how cool to see it again through your eyes and lens...and from shore.
